The Pay Goes Beyond the Cheque

This will be a short entry. I was surprised by a visit from one of my former students at my office today.  They came along with their friend who is a local artist and presented me with a gift. It was two pictures of me, one sketched and the other painted.  I was completely floored.  The student thanked me for my efforts teaching them. I thanked them for their own work and efforts.  They were an excellent student and a joy to work with because they didn’t just want to get an A, they wanted to do their work to the highest level possible. Moments like today remind me that the pay goes beyond the cheque.
