Goals for 2019, 2020, 2021
A Review

In past years, I used to come up with a set up goals to accomplish during each trip around the sun. I haven’t posted any goals since 2018, which doesn’t feel like it’s that long ago even though it’s been four years! It’s not to say I haven’t had goals, but just that I haven’t been writing about it. So here’s a recap:

2019~2021 Goals in review

1. Finish my Rosetta Stone Arabic Course. This didn’t happen in 2019, hasn’t happened since, and probably won’t happen.
Grade F

2. Lose Weight! Weigh 81kg or less before 2019 2020. I did get down to around 86 kg back in  May of 2021, but have gone back to 100kg since. It all started with a delicious serving of schadenfreude, which I prefer not elaborate on.
Grade D

3. Submit one of my MA papers to at least one journal for publication. I’ve been out of university for too long and the work is now too dated for attempting to publish. In addition, my current employer has all kinds of hoops I need to jump through.
Grade F

4. Become an investor – Invest $xxx this year! Start 2020 debt-free. I believe this goal was written before mom’s passing. So it didn’t happen. However, in May 2021, I paid off all my debt and since then RS and I have been starting to accumulate savings!
Grade A+++++ (I may have finished this late, but it’s done, and we have remained debt-free in the 7 months since)

5. Enroll in an MA Program. Done! Higher education continues! I also got straight A’s in all my courses so far!
Grade A+

6. Quit the old job and find a new job. Also done! I got lucky on this one as I was able to transfer to another dept in the unviersity..
Grade A+

The Forever List

2019 was the year I came up with the Forever List, which was intended to be routines and habit to live by.  The idea here was to put the things I plan to keep doing into a list. I never really used it in the end, but I do like the idea. Here’s what I wrote in 2019 along with some comments.

1. Blog at least once a month, and at least 15 times overall for the year.  I had a really hard time writing blog entries after my mother passed away. My words on her passing were hard to write, but they are a valuable snapshot of those last days.  I sometimes look at my daughter, AR, her namesake, and wish that my mother could see her. In any event, I plan to write here more often as my blog is a reflective space for me that helps clear my mind.

2. No Coke zero. No store-bought sweets and junk-food! (Maniacal villain laughter) HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Nope.
It’s a good idea in theory, but I definitely didn’t abide this rule.

I’m working on the goals for 2022 and hopefully will have some stuff up in a few days. I’ll probably reuse the Drake meme for it.
